Database query manipulation via unescaped storage engine
Published Jan 26, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
SQL injection in phpMyAdmin 5.0.1 allows remote attackers to alter database queries through crafted table-creation parameters. CreateAddField::getTableCreationQuery appends the tbl_storage_engine POST value directly to a CREATE TABLE statement without escaping it. The endpoint must be reachable and the active database connection must permit table creation; the public report demonstrates SQL errors rather than full system compromise.
