Service interruption via unreleased resampler options dictionary
Published Jun 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory exhaustion in FFmpeg 4.2 allows remote attackers to interrupt service when a victim processes crafted media input. During ffmpeg_cleanup(), the program frees ost->sws_dict but omits av_dict_free(&ost->swr_opts), leaving the resampler-options dictionary allocated. User interaction is required to process the input; published sources do not specify whether resource exhaustion hangs or crashes the process.
