Root command execution via unsanitized mail parameter
Published Apr 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in INIM SmartLiving SmartLAN/G/SI 6.x and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The web.cgi testemail module inserts the unsanitized par POST parameter into a mailx command and passes the resulting string to system(), which invokes the shell. Access to the web interface is required; default credentials provide the documented path to complete control of the embedded system.
