Unauthenticated syslog disclosure via unprotected download handler
Published Jul 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication bypass in Motorola CX2 router CX 1.0.2 Build 20190508 Rel.97360n allows remote attackers to download the syslog archive. The prog.fcgi handler accepts an empty POST naming /HNAP1/GetDownLoadSyslog with a partially authorized uid cookie and returns the archive without full authentication. Network access to the management interface is sufficient; the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of data contained in the syslog archive.
