Remote code execution via unsafe YAML deserialization
Published May 6, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unsafe YAML deserialization in Jenkins SCM Filter Jervis Plugin 0.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code. JervisFilterTrait passes repository-controlled yamlText to SnakeYAML through new Yaml().load(), permitting arbitrary Java type construction. Exploitation requires permission to configure a filtered job or control of a configured repository, and successful execution runs code on the Jenkins controller.
