Authenticated command execution via injected ping address

Published Apr 9, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

OS command injection in WiFi-soft UniBox 2.4 appliances allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through /tools/ping. The /tools/ping handler accepts an address value containing shell metacharacters, and the published address=1;id payload executes id as the web-service account. A valid PHP session is required; the disclosed request demonstrates execution as www-data on U-50, Enterprise Series, and Campus Series devices.
