Credential exposure via plaintext configuration form
Published Mar 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cleartext credential transmission in Jenkins Logstash Plugin 2.3.1 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to obtain configured secrets. The plugin places encrypted-at-rest credentials into the global Jenkins configuration form as plaintext rather than retaining their encrypted representation. Exposure requires an administrator to load that form while a browser extension, cross-site scripting flaw, or similar browser-side observer can read it.
