Administrator account creation via forged adduser request
Published Jun 20, 2023 · Updated Dec 10, 2024
CSRF in GreenCMS 2.3 allows remote attackers to create an administrator account through the index.php adduser action. The action processes a forged, state-changing account-creation request as the logged-in administrator without verifying that the administrator intended it. Exploitation requires an administrator to remain authenticated and load attacker-controlled content, after which the newly created account has administrative privileges.
