CVE-2020-2117Network attack vector

Credential theft via unchecked connection validation

Published Feb 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Missing authorization in Jenkins Pipeline GitHub Notify Step Plugin 1.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to capture stored credentials. The doTestConnection form-validation method accepts attacker-controlled credentialsId and gitApiUrl values, then calls getGitHubIfValid without checking Item/Configure permission, causing Jenkins to authenticate to the supplied server. Overall/Read access and a valid credential ID obtained through another method are required; successful exploitation discloses the selected stored secret to the attacker-controlled endpoint.
