Process crash via Prewitt gradient integer overflow

Integer overflow in FFmpeg 4.2.1 libavfilter allows attackers to crash media processing through input that reaches the Prewitt filter. The filter16_prewitt function squares signed-integer gradient sums before passing the result to sqrtf, allowing the arithmetic to exceed the integer range and trigger undefined behavior. The flaw is reached when 16-bit video is processed with the Prewitt convolution filter; user interaction is required, and impacts beyond a process crash remain unspecified.
