Browser script execution via unsanitized comments
Published Sep 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in JeeCMS 1.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary scripts in visitors' browsers via crafted comments. The /usercomment endpoint stores the commentText value without neutralizing script markup, then renders it after an administrator approves the comment. Exploitation requires an authenticated comment submission, administrative approval, and a visitor opening the affected page; the script runs in the site's browser origin.
