Administrator account creation via forged user update
Published Jun 20, 2023 · Updated Dec 11, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in GilaCMS 1.11.4 allows remote attackers to create an administrator account through a forged user-update request. The cm/update_rows/user endpoint accepts a cross-origin multipart POST carrying username, password, role, and activation fields without verifying request intent. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to open attacker-controlled content; success creates an active administrator account with control of the application.
