Root command execution via certificate upload
Published Jun 10, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
OS command injection in the PAN-OS management server allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary operating-system commands as root. The certificate-upload verification path in FIPS-CC mode passes untrusted certificate data to an operating-system command, although the specific field and invocation are undisclosed. Exploitation requires administrator authentication, FIPS-CC mode, and a new-certificate upload on an affected release.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
