Authenticated diskd crash via out-of-bounds write
Published May 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory corruption in the diskd process in MikroTik RouterOS 6.47 allows remote authenticated users to crash it with a crafted packet. The diskd process performs an out-of-bounds write during crafted-packet processing, producing an invalid memory access and signal 11. Valid RouterOS credentials and network reachability are required, and the demonstrated effect is a diskd process crash rather than code execution.
