Unauthenticated PHP execution via polyglot image upload
Published May 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in ArticleCMS 1.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code through the /admin image uploader. The handler trusts a forged image/jpeg Content-Type, omits a filename-extension check, stores JPEG/PHP polyglots, and permits alternate PHP tags to evade its code filter. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful uploads execute with the web server's privileges.
