Password disclosure via cleartext diagnostic logging
Published May 13, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Information exposure in GlobalProtect App 5.0 before 5.0.9 and 5.1 before 5.1.2 allows local users to read passwords from PanGPS.log. When Save User Credential is enabled, a user manually selects a gateway, and troubleshooting uses Dump logging, the app writes the user's cleartext password into PanGPS.log. The issue is limited to Windows and macOS under those conditions; Linux and mobile platforms are unaffected, and the vendor reported no malicious credential access or use.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=5.0 <5.0.9
