Administrator authentication bypass via unverified Kerberos KDC
Published May 13, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Authentication bypass in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS allows man-in-the-middle attackers to log in as administrators through Kerberos. The authentication daemon and User-ID components accept a spoofed Kerberos KDC without verifying its integrity before authenticating the supplied identity. Exploitation requires interception of PAN-OS-to-KDC traffic and a Kerberos authentication profile; successful spoofing grants administrator access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.1 <7.1.26 changes=[{"at":"7.1.26","status":"unaffected"}]
