Arbitrary script execution via unfiltered preview HTML
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Cross-site scripting in jbt Markdown Editor through commit 2252418c allows remote attackers to execute script through crafted Markdown. The preview rendering path passes raw HTML containing EMBED script access or event-handler attributes into the page without neutralizing executable content. Execution requires a user to enter the payload, open a malicious .md file, or follow a shared editor link, exposing page data and actions available to that browser context.
