Unauthenticated account takeover via user_id session overwrite
Published Apr 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Incorrect access control in ShopXO 1.4.0 and 1.5.0 allows remote attackers to assume arbitrary user sessions through user_id. The avatar-upload flow accepts attacker-controlled application and user_id parameters, and UserLoginRecord then stores the selected numeric user ID in the session. No authentication is required, and predictable numeric IDs permit impersonation of arbitrary accounts with those accounts' privileges.
