Memory disclosure and process crash via descriptor over-read
Published Sep 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Heap buffer over-read in GPAC 0.8.0 allows remote attackers to disclose memory or crash the process via malformed MPEG-4 descriptor data. The gf_odf_del_ipmp_tool function in odf_code.c accepts an invalid descriptor size, traverses beyond the allocated heap region, and frees an invalid address. No authentication or user interaction is required; exposure depends on untrusted descriptor data reaching GPAC's ODF parser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
