Crash via null elementary-stream pointer dereference
Published Jul 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in GPAC before 0.8.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash MP4Box via a crafted MP4 file. In gf_m2ts_process_pmt in media_tools/mpegts.c, a misplaced closing brace leaves stream-type checks outside the guard that establishes a valid elementary-stream pointer. Processing a malicious transport stream embedded in an MP4 file dereferences that null pointer, terminating the MP4Box process without reported data disclosure or modification.
