Converter crash via freed-object read
Published Jul 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in DCTStream::transformDataUnit in FlowPaper PDF2JSON 0.70 allows attackers to crash the converter via a crafted PDF. The PDF parser frees a nested Array-backed Object, then DCTStream::transformDataUnit reads the released allocation while decoding image data, ending in SIGSEGV. Triggering the crash requires the converter to process the supplied PDF; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, with no published data disclosure or code execution.
