CVE-2020-1936Network attack vector

Script execution via unescaped breadcrumb labels

Published Mar 2, 2021 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Stored XSS in Apache Ambari Views before 2.7.4 allows remote attackers to execute scripts in a user's browser through a crafted View name. The createLabel path in breadcrumbs_view.js places bound breadcrumb labels into formattedLabel without HTML escaping, so a crafted Display Name becomes executable markup. Exploitation requires a user to open the affected View breadcrumb; the script runs in the Ambari browser origin and can read or change accessible UI data, with no reported service interruption.
