CVE-2020-19318Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via webserver return-address overwrite

Published Sep 11, 2023 · Updated Sep 26, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in the D-Link DIR-605L AX webserver through firmware 1.17beta allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The public proof of concept supplies crafted data that overwrites the webserver process's saved return address, crashing the service before redirecting control flow to a shell. Access to the router management service is required, and successful exploitation grants code execution with the webserver process's privileges.
