Administrator account creation via cross-origin request
Published Sep 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in MipCMS 5.0.1 allows remote attackers to add administrator users through the user-management API. The itemAdd endpoint accepts a cross-origin state-changing request in an administrator's session and honors attacker-supplied groupId 1 data, creating an administrator account. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to open attacker-controlled content; the resulting account provides administrative access.
