Stored script execution via unescaped portal title
Published Jun 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in IPFire 2.21 Core Update 130 allows remote authenticated users to run script in a visitor's browser via a crafted portal title. The captive.cgi handler assigns the unescaped TITLE parameter to stored portal settings and later renders it in the Captive Portal page. Privileged WebGUI access is required to plant the title, and the script runs when a victim opens the portal, enabling cookie theft or unauthorized configuration changes.
