Unauthenticated article disclosure via unchecked password cookie
Published Jul 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication bypass in Halo 0.4.3 allows remote attackers to read password-protected articles by supplying a crafted cookie. The article view handler checks only whether the halo-post-password- cookie exists and never verifies its value against the article password. No account or correct password is required; knowledge of the article ID exposes content but does not permit modification or service interruption.
