CVE-2020-19001Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary command execution via unsafe YAML loading

Published Aug 27, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Command injection in Simiki 1.6.2.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary system commands through a crafted YAML configuration file. The parse_config function passes _config.yml content to yaml.load without a restricted loader, allowing tagged Python objects to invoke operating-system commands. The attacker must cause Simiki to load the malicious project configuration; the resulting process executes the embedded command with its own privileges.
