Unauthenticated command execution via theme cloning
Published Jul 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in Halo 0.4.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the theme-cloning endpoint. The cloneFromRemote method concatenates the remoteAddr and themeName parameters into a git clone command passed to RuntimeUtil.execForStr without validation or escaping. An unauthenticated network request can inject shell metacharacters and run commands with the Halo server process's privileges.
