Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted file operations
Published May 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Remote code execution in PuppyCMS 5.1 allows remote attackers to run arbitrary server-side code through admin/functions.php. The unauthenticated endpoint accepts upload and rename operations that place a text payload under content and rename it with a PHP extension. No administrator login or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation installs a web shell with the web server's permissions.
