CVE-2020-18768Public exploit

Application crash via crafted TIFF out-of-bounds read

Published Aug 22, 2023 · Updated Oct 4, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in libtiff 4.0.10 allows attackers to crash dependent applications that process a crafted TIFF file. _TIFFmemcpy in tif_unix.c passes a crafted-file-derived copy size to memcpy without keeping the read within the allocated source buffer. Triggering the flaw requires an application to process the file; the documented consequence is a crash, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
