Stored script execution via unsanitized contact names
Published Feb 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in MDaemon Webmail before 20.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via contact names. The distribution-list editor stores a crafted HTML image element in the contact-name field without neutralizing its event handler, then renders that name as active markup whenever the saved list is opened. An authenticated account must create and save the list, and script execution occurs in the browser of any user who later visits the distribution-list section.
