Stored XSS via unescaped attachment filenames
Published Feb 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in MDaemon Webmail 19.5.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute script when a recipient forwards an email. The forwarding view inserts an attacker-controlled attachment filename into generated HTML without sufficient output encoding, causing the browser to interpret embedded markup as script. Exploitation requires authenticated access to store the crafted filename and a recipient to forward the message; the script runs within the recipient's Webmail origin.
