CVE-2020-1872

Physical Digital Balance bypass via startup-wizard escape

Published Feb 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Digital Balance bypass in Huawei P10 Plus firmware allows physically proximate attackers to alter restricted phone settings via setup. During reconfiguration in Digital Balance mode, an unspecified sequence escapes the startup wizard and exposes a switch that disables the control. Physical possession of the handset is required; the documented consequence is configuration modification and loss of Digital Balance restrictions.
