Reflected script execution via unescaped act parameter
Published Jun 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in gnuboard5 5.3.2.8 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to execute script via a crafted act parameter. The move_update.php response places act inside an inline JavaScript alert after common.php escapes only quotation marks, so a closing script tag introduces attacker-controlled script. The request executes only in a board, group, or super-administrator session and requires a victim to process the crafted input; the script then runs in that browser context.
