Stored script execution via unescaped tag names
Published Aug 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in BigTree CMS 4.4.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in an administrator's browser via a tag name. The tag-creation endpoint accepts a script-bearing tag parameter and stores it without neutralization before the Tags page renders it as active markup. Administrator access is required to create the tag, and execution occurs when an administrator later opens the Tags page.
