Service crash via unbounded nested-array recursion
Published May 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack overflow in Cesanta MJS 1.20.1 allows local users to crash the interpreter by executing a crafted JavaScript file. The parse_array routine recursively invokes parse_value for nested array elements without enforcing a depth limit, exhausting the process stack. Successful triggering aborts the MJS process, interrupting the service or device that embeds the interpreter.
