JavaScript execution via EMBED data-URI SVG
Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
DOM-based cross-site scripting in Phodal CMD 1.0 allows local users to execute JavaScript by entering a crafted EMBED element. The editor renders an EMBED source containing a data-URI SVG without blocking the SVG script, so the browser executes the embedded payload. Execution requires the crafted content to be rendered in the editor; the demonstrated payload runs script in the editor page context.
