Administrator account creation via cross-site request forgery
Published Jun 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Simple-Log 1.6 allows remote attackers to create an administrator account through the add-member endpoint. The admin/admin.php?act=act_add_member handler processes attacker-chosen account fields from a cross-origin POST with no request-specific anti-CSRF value. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to submit the crafted form, after which the privileged account enables administrative access and arbitrary code execution.
