Unauthenticated SQL execution via PDO search query
Published Jul 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
SQL injection in the search page of Subrion CMS 4.2.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute SQL through the q parameter. The PDO adapter's bind() method replaces placeholders in SQL text by string substitution, allowing a closing parenthesis and appended statement in q to alter the executed query. The public route requires no account, but the site must use the nondefault PDO connector; successful injection can read or modify database contents or interrupt database-backed service.
