Authenticated file disclosure via asset-path traversal
Published Aug 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in Indexhibit 2.1.5 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files through the asset editor. The ndxzstudio system assets route accepts ../ sequences in the edit parameter without restricting the resolved path to the asset directory. A valid login is required, and successful exploitation exposes files readable by the web process, including the site's configuration file.
