CVE-2020-1773Network attack vector

Account takeover via predictable security tokens

Published Mar 27, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Insufficient entropy in OTRS 7.0.15 and earlier and Community Edition 5.0.41 and 6.0.26 and earlier allows attackers to predict security tokens. The shared GenerateRandomString path draws session IDs, password-reset tokens, and generated passwords from a source with insufficient entropy. An attacker must authenticate or first exploit OSA-2020-09, and a target must hold an active session or usable reset token; prediction enables access as that user.
