CVE-2020-1765Network attack vector

Message impersonation via client-controlled From parameter

Published Jan 10, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Sender spoofing in OTRS 7.0.13 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to forge From fields in outbound ticket messages. AgentTicketCompose, AgentTicketForward, AgentTicketBounce, and AgentTicketEmailOutbound trust a client-controlled From parameter instead of enforcing the configured sender identity; Community Edition 5.0.39 and 6.0.24 and earlier are also affected. Exploitation requires low-privileged authenticated access and user interaction, and resulting messages can misrepresent their sender without reading data or interrupting service.
