Cross-group grade disclosure via missing report filtering
Published Aug 5, 2022 · Updated Jun 23, 2026
Improper access control in Moodle LMS before 3.8.2, 3.7.5, 3.6.9, and 3.5.11 allows remote authenticated users to view other groups' grades. The grade history report fails to apply the course's Separate groups restriction when a viewer lacks the moodle/site:accessallgroups capability, so its grade query includes users outside the viewer's groups. Access requires an authenticated account permitted to open the report in a course using Separate groups; the documented consequence is disclosure of grades, not modification or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=3.8.2, 3.7.5, 3.6.9 and 3.5.11
