Browser script execution via unencoded msgId parameter
Published Apr 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in the WSO2 Management Console through 5.10 allows remote attackers to run script in a victim's browser via msgId. The carbon/admin/login.jsp page places the msgId request parameter into its response without the OWASP output encoding added by the vendor's patch. An unauthenticated request still requires a victim to load the crafted response; script can redirect the browser, alter the page, or read browser data, but protected session cookies prevent session hijacking.
