CVE-2020-1711Network attack vector

Remote code execution via iSCSI response overflow

Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Out-of-bounds access in QEMU-KVM 2.12.0 through before 4.2.1 allows remote attackers to crash the emulator via a malicious iSCSI response. The iscsi_co_block_status() routine mishandles an iSCSI server response while checking Logical Address Block status, causing an out-of-bounds heap access. Exploitation requires a QEMU instance configured to use an attacker-controlled or compromised iSCSI server; impact is process denial of service and potentially code execution with QEMU privileges on the host.
