Signature verification bypass in App::cpanminus 1.7044 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to install modified Perl packages. The cpanm verification path calls Module::Signature::_verify() without sigtext and plaintext, bypassing _compare() and accepting signed cleartext anywhere in CHECKSUMS. Exploitation requires signature checking and a malicious or compromised mirror or man-in-the-middle position; the substituted package executes during installation.
