LDAP impersonation via disabled certificate validation
Published Jul 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper certificate validation in LemonLDAP::NG through 2.0.8 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to impersonate remote LDAP backends. Secure LDAPS and TLS connections inherit Net::LDAPS defaults that do not verify the backend's X.509 certificate. An attacker positioned between the service and its configured LDAP backend can alter directory responses and compromise authentication integrity.
