CVE-2020-1608Network attack vector

Device reboot via crafted BBE client packet

Published Jan 15, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Denial of service in Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows remote attackers to reboot BBE devices with a crafted MPLS or IPv6 packet. Packet processing on the core-facing interface mishandles specific traffic destined for BBE clients and crashes the kernel, producing a vmcore before reboot. The device must be an MX Series subscriber-management platform configured for BBE, and the reported consequence is a reboot rather than data access or modification.
