CVE-2020-1601Network attack vector

Daemon crash via malformed PCEP packet processing

Published Jan 15, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Denial of service in the pccd process in Juniper Networks Junos OS allows remote attackers to crash the daemon with malformed PCEP packets. When a device is configured as a PCEP Path Computation Client, pccd processes certain malformed protocol packets instead of safely rejecting them and terminates with a core file. The PCC configuration and reachable PCEP session are required; repeated delivery keeps path computation unavailable for an extended period.
